The rains came, but this time it was not until the trophies had been awarded. The finals from the July 20 races were completed with Jennifer Hansen of Anchorage taking her first trophy ever in Mod ET. Her T-bucket bested Clint Van Noy, also of Anchorage, in his 396 Chevelle by first taking a .0018 light and then pedal to the metal to top out at 127.14 mph. Nathan Thornsley of Palmer took his dragster to 160.73 mph to beat Mike Mihalka of Anchorage in the Top ET class. Teenager Zach Richards of Palmer was .0101 under his dial-in time allowing Jeff Floyd to take the win in the Super ET class. Jennifer Williams of Palmer took her first win in Trophy class besting long time driver Bob Lee of Anchorage. Josh Mommsen of Anchorage continued to accumulate points in the Junior dragster class by beating Kayla MacDonald of Fairbanks.
In the races for July 27, Justine MacDonald scored a repeat of her previous weekís win in Top Dragster by beating Roy Rank of Wasilla. Top Et narrowed down the competition to two long-time competitors, with Mike Mihalka in his borrowed Dart leading Ron Bowerman, also of Anchorage, in his Bantam who couldnít quite make up a more than 2 second difference in dial-in times. Clint Van Noy made uup for his second place finish earlier in the day by taking first in Mod Et by defeating Charlie Ulen who had trailered his LaBaron up from Soldotna. Two grand old men fought it our in Super ET with Julian Wilkerson of Wasilla in his Taurus edging Art Normand of Houston in his CJ7 jeep. Johnny Jones of Anchorage made it to the finals two weeks in a row, taking first this week over newcomer Dia Matteson of Eagle River. Jerry Harris of Anchorage took his first win in Junior Dragster over Carl Reimann by cutting a .0009 reaction time at the lights
