1/1/07 Steve, I just wanted to give you a few lines to put on the drivers corner. Well my time in Alaska is quickly coming to a close and I just wanted to give a shout and say good bye. If my new home track in Idaho has half the personality as ARP I will do just fine. As a military member I am forced to move every few years and of coarse I have to find a new bunch of gear heads and car geeks to hang out with. I have to say that the Alaskan car/racing culture is one of a kind and I truly feel lucky to have been a part of it. Thanx to the Rat Pack for your support and comedy, to Mike McMullet and Cathy for the weather reports,to Brian Aszmus,Dan Hertrich,John Dixon and Robbie Huck and for their friendship and for holding down party central, to the Ginnet's for letting me in on the good luck and good beer, to the Welsh camp and Dexter, I will miss the sometimes tough lessons, to Clint Vanoy, a truly great sportsman with loads of class, and a huge Thank You to Ron Bowerman who enabled me to realize my goal of building a 10 sec car and being competitive, and to Teresa Bowerman (My Alaskan Mom) Thank You for keeping me in line and out of trouble... Thank You for letting me be a part of something special. Kevin Frisbie Frizparts@yahoo.com http://us.f577.mail.yahoo.com/ym/Compose?To=Frizparts@yahoo.com

11/21/06 - Paul & Tonya Mueller are leaving the state in December. They will be having a tropical Hawaiian going away party on December 2nd at 8 pm at Joey's Bar on Tudor road in Anchorage. (the old Tony Roma's) For more info, email paul_n_tonya@hotmail.com mailto:paul_n_tonya@hotmail.com

10/09/06 - I wanted all of you at ARP to know my thoughts on the events and staffing of this summer as I saw it. Sooo here goes: I feel that as a whole the season was a big success. There were times and a few interactions that I could of done without but, there is no blame just different ways to see things. I must admit it was GREAT not breaking this summer and having a car that actually started everytime I hit the switch. Steve Mihalka, I feel you had a severe learning curve this season and from all that I saw you did very well with it. I look forward to listening to you once again at the drivers meetings (now if we can get something done about that Shiny spot on your head) :) The new gang at the waterbox and burnout area badly needed to communicate with each other better. No less than 5 times was I waved forward to do my rolling burnout when there was someone cleaning up something in my lane. I prefer not to have extra body parts on the front of the car as it is carrying enough with my big hiney in there already. This problem shall also pass with experience on the crews part. Earl and Karen, What can I say you 2 are always a pleasure to be around. Even when you are going 90mph trying to get things done. Earl your attention to getting the track ready is GREATLY appreciated. I am looking forward to next year and already have the "Old Scool" roadster being set up to hopefully run in the Top Dragster class with the help of a alcohol injection system. Finally, to the other racers, thank you for laughing at my jokes and my good natured harassment. I also appreciated all of your advice with my questions and observations. Truly without you this sport would be no fun and I would be forced to complete some of the items on my wifes "honey do" list. See you all next year, Have a Great Winter Andrew Handy

8/27/06 - An Update on Tony Manske - Sad news - The surgery went well but the bad news is that it's not a tumor, it's cancer called Epithelial Sarcoma. The bad part has been removed, however there are a few more tests that Tony has to go through to find out how far advanced it is. If it is just in his right arm, they can remove the arm and save his life. If it has advanced to his chest, there may not be much they can do. Tony will be taking donations to help assist with the rising medical costs. They can be sent to him at 3333 West 86th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99502-5305. Tony can be reached via email at
tonydodge@gci.net <mailto:tonydodge@gci.net>. We wish him all the best and will be updating as information becomes available.

8/27/06 - Just wanted to drop a note to let all of Jay's (Jay Johnson) racing friends know that Jay is in a speedy recovery of a very almost fatal blood infection that he got fro using (superclean degreaser). He is almost fully recovered and will be back at least by Labor Day weekend. The whole family really enjoys the track and can not wait to be back out there. Thank you very much - Johnson Family Motorsports

5/22/06 - Follow the link to see AJ Schwichtenberg at the VRA/Goodguys races in pomona in may. Great shot of his burn out. http://www.maziracing.com/06Pomona/index.htm

5/9/06 - Have you heard what the Chicken Man is up too? AJ Schwichtenberg of Palmer competed in the Pomona Good Guys event over the weekend and took top honors in his '57 Chevy in the B/Gas class. You can read more about it here: http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=114001#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCStory.asp?ID=114001 Congrats AJ and we'll look forward to reading more about you this summer!

5/4/06 - Congratulations to Mike Mihalka, who took Best Competition car of all the drag cars and Best Engineered car of the whole show at the Eagle River Car Show this weekend! He's ready for race season, are you??? Here's a few photos.....

4/14/06 - Our condolences to Dean Cramer, as his father passed away today. Dean says his father was a backing force for him during his early racing days, even going so far as to give up his garage so Dean could build cars.
When you get to the track, take the second entrance. (Try and get there in time to be in the tech line by 10:00 am.) Give the nice lady money behind the booth for your racing fees. She will ask you what class you want to race in, I would suggest Trophy class. Lots of newbies, lots of fun, and very little cash. Once you have your tech slip,(this is what the lady gives you in exchange for cash) Go to the tech line with your car, helmet and tech slip. Once you pass tech, (no big deal if your running all your lug-nuts and gas or oil isnt spewing all over the ground) go get in the staging lanes and make a pass! If you have NEVER done this, dont worry, EVERYBODY dorks out the first couple of pass's. At about 2:00, Eliminations begin. Listen to 95.1 on your radio for the tower to call out the trophy class. (Once they call,go to the lane they called your class in. He'll say, "Trophy class lanes 1 or something like that") Everybody up there is very cool, and we love newbies! (easy pickings) Just kidding. ITs great to see new people getting into it, and anybody up there will help you if you have questions. Dont try and park on th pavement in the pits, people rent those spots all summer. There will be lots of vacancies on Sunday, but after the season get's rolling, you might need to set up your pit on the grass unless you work something out with a pavement renter.
Good Luck, have fun, go fast and straight.
